We are all, at some points in our lives, faced with making a decision that involves risk. Taking a chance. Trusting fate.
Taking chances can feel incredibly scary, with the uncertainty and unpredictability that risks have. When you take a chance you could achieve greater things than you had ever dreamed, but you could also fail. Failure is one of the hardest things for us to come to terms with. However, if we start looking at in a different way, understand that failure actually means we tried rather than failed, then surely we have accomplished something. Stop focusing on the final outcome, but focus on the journey.
Take a moment and think about if you have had times where you have been offered an opportunity, but it meant taking a chance.....did you take it? If so, what happened and do you regret it? And if not, why and do you regret it?
Taking a chance, doesn’t mean you will 100% succeed, but it it could hold many benefits for you.
It may allow you to nurture talents you have kept hidden.
It might allow you to overcome your fears, igniting a feeling of empowerment.
It could give you an opportunity to learn and grow.
You may meet new people.
It could be a chance for you to discover more about yourself.
When faced with taking a chance, I always decide to do a pros and cons list. Here are some questions that may help you when considering whether to take a risk or not.
Is this risk too great for my mental, emotional and physical wellbeing at this time? (And remember if it is, that is 100% ok!!!)
Is my fear based on the unknown or are there real danger factors to consider?
Is the risk of becoming stagnate, greater than the risk itself?
What do I risk gaining and or losing from taking this chance?
By taking a chance, your self belief may grow, you may stretch your confidence and build on your skills. It is important to note that taking a chance doesn’t mean always doing something massive, it could be taking small steps to achieve your goals. Stop and close your eyes, think about the life you would like to most envision for yourself. Then ponder on what you would need to do to achieve that life. Taking a chance could be taking small steps to achieve this life.
Weigh up the risks, the chance.

Decide if it’s right for YOU.
But don’t let fear dictate to you.
